The
film being presented and discussed is "The Three Burials of Melquiades
Estrada." The director and star is Tommy Lee Jones, who plays Pete
Perkins, a hard-working small cattle operator, that hires Melquiades Estrada,
an illegal Mexican immigrant to work as a cowboy. Taking place in a small
border town of poverty that proves to be a hard land for men and a
heartbreaking one for women, Pete takes justice into his own hands after a
confrontation with a Border Patrol agent and the local sheriff.
Beverly Vogeley and Cathy Adamescue will serve as discussion facilitators. Both
are longtime members of LLI and members of the LLI Steering Committee.
Hosted by the Lifelong Learning Institute at COTC
Senior
citizens, over 60 years old, that reside in Licking County who have an interest
in joining the LLI will receive their LLI membership fee at half price, thanks
