Free Financial Aid Event to Be Held at COTC and Ohio State Newark

NEWARK, Ohio, January 11, 2016 — The Ohio State University at Newark and Central Ohio Technical College(COTC) will host College Goal Sunday, a free statewide college financial aid event, on Feb. 14, 2016, at 2 p.m., in the John Gilbert Reese Center, 1209 University Dr., Newark, Ohio. At College Goal Sunday, college-bound students and parents can receive expert assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and get answers to financial aid questions.

The FAFSA is the federal application that is required to receive federal financial aid including the Federal Pell Grant and student loans as well as need-based state grants. While walk-ins are welcome, families are encouraged to register for this event at or by calling 740-366-9435 to ensure that enough volunteers are on-hand.

All students who are anticipating attending college should attend this event, especially, students and families who need assistance in applying for financial aid to attend college. Adult students entering college are also encouraged to attend. Students do not have to attend or plan to attend COTC or Ohio State Newark to participate in College Goal Sunday.

Participants are encouraged to bring records for themselves and their parents or spouse, if applicable, including social security number, driver’s license, 2015 federal income tax returns or W-2 forms, other records of income and bank information.
