Engineering Technology Scholarships Available for 2016-17 Academic Year

NEWARK, Ohio, April 13, 2016 – Students planning to pursue a degree in engineering technology at Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) could receive a scholarship equal to half of their tuition. The scholarships will be awarded to new students starting an engineering technology degree during the 2016-17 academic year.

"Businesses in central Ohio need trained engineering technicians," said Interim Dean for Engineering Technology Whit Tussing. "We want students who are interested in this career field to pursue these degree programs, and we don't want affordability to be an issue. These scholarships will help students complete their associate degree in engineering technology."

The college admission application serves as the student's application for this scholarship. The student must indicate a major choice in one of the engineering technology programs. Majors include architectural engineering technology, civil engineering technology, electrical engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology and manufacturing engineering technology. For full-time students, the value of the scholarship is $2,200; part-time students receive a prorated amount. Scholarships will be awarded to 40 students who demonstrate academic achievement through a high school or college grade point average of 2.00 or higher, documented on transcripts submitted with the admission application. The scholarships will be awarded on a first come, first served basis.
