Employment Success for COTC BMT Graduates

NEWARK, Ohio, July 3, 2017 – A higher percentage of Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) business management technology (BMT) graduates are getting jobs than graduates of other two-year schools in Ohio. According to data from the Ohio Education Research Center, the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, 78 percent of COTC's business management technology graduates were employed in Ohio nine months after graduation compared to 74 percent of graduates from all Ohio two-year colleges.

A BMT degree opens the door to a variety of occupations. Students develop a broad foundation of business concepts relevant to any industry as well as in-depth knowledge in a particular field through elective courses in entrepreneurship, human resources, marketing and sales, management and office administration.

The business management technology program at COTC recently received international accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). "This international accreditation lets employers know that COTC's graduates are ready to work in a global business environment," said Associate Professor for Business Management Technology Bonnie Buchanan.

The mission of the ACBSP is to promote continuous improvement and recognize excellence in the accreditation of business education programs around the world. ACBSP is a leading specialized accreditation body for business education supporting, celebrating and rewarding teaching excellence.

COTC was ranked number one in Ohio and number 19 in the nation by PayScale in its 2016-17 College Salary Report ranking the best community and career colleges by salary potential. COTC is a fully accredited, public college dedicated to providing high-quality, accessible programs of technical education in response to current and emerging employment needs. COTC is the only technical college in Ohio operating four full-service campus locations: Newark, Coshocton, Knox and Pataskala.
