COTC Recognizes Basic Police Academy Graduates at Newark Campus

December 21, 2015 – Newark, OH—Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) held a recognition ceremony on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Newark campus to honor the following graduates of the Basic Police Academy.* The Basic Police Academy prepares students to meet the requirements of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Council. Successful graduates are recommended to take the state certification examination.

"The students in this class worked extremely hard to get to this point in their education. Next semester they will obtain additional certifications to enhance their ability to obtain jobs," said Basic Police Academy Commander Jeff Sowards. "They all are certified to be police officers anywhere in the state of Ohio and will obtain jobs in small to medium sized police depart​​ments across the state where 70 percent of police officers work."
